William Bon Mardion has won the last individual race of the World Cup at Tromsø and has been awarded the specialty Crystal Cup. Of the women, Laetitia Roux has confirmed her leadership, wining the race and the overall ranking.

This morning, some kilometres from Tromsø in Norway, the Blåtind Arctic Race was run, the second to last trial of the Scarpa ISMF World Cup circuit. The Individual Race, due to adverse weather conditions, was held on an alternative route, which was run twice for a total of six climbs and an overall altitude gain of 1,750 metres.

In the first half of the race Manfred Reichegger, Damiano Lenzi, and William Bon Mardion all took the lead at different points. On the third climb the Italian Lenzi increased his pace taking the Frenchman Bon Mardion behind him. Reichegger fell behind a little but without losing too much ground to the two pace setters, with Kilian Jornet hot on his tail. Bon Mardion flew down the slope, staying perfecting in line and gaining first place. Lenzi, in changing gear, lost a few seconds. The placings remained more or less unchanged; Bon Mardion remained in first place, increasing his advantage over Damiano Lenzi. The transalpine champion won with his arms held high in a time of 1:23’01’’, Lenzi was 30 seconds behind him. In third place, after a sporting battle with Manfred Reichegger was Kilian Jornet, but his ranking goes back to fourth place due to a one minute penalty. Manfred Reichegger thus climbs onto the third step of the podium, and behind Kilian the other Italian Robert Antonioli qualifies.

With the points awarded in this last leg of the World Cup, William Bon Mardion has won with 365 points the Specialty Cup (Individual Race), in second place is Kilian Jornet (360 points) while in third place is Damiano Lenzi with 295 points.

In the women’s race Laetitia Roux, confirming the seasons performance, won in front of the Swiss

Maude Mathys. The French woman thus has also won the Specialty Cup and finished the Blåtind Arctic Race in 1:23’49’’. Mathys was second with 1:26’19, while Valentine Fabre was third. Sophie Dusautoir Bertrand and Emelie Forsberg were forth and fifth respectively.

In the overall ranking of the World Cup (Individual Race) behind Roux (500) points, Maude Mathys (320 points) climbs onto the second step of the podium, while Sophie Dusautoir Bertrand was third with 285 points.

Tomorrow the Sprint Race will be run. The points to be awarded will determine the winner of the Overall World Cup. For the women’s category the game is over with Laetitia Roux first, Maude Mathys second and Sophie Dusautoir Bertrand third. For the men’s category the results will be fundamental in awarding the Overall Cup. The Italian Damiano Lenzi with 549 points is in provisional first place ahead of Kilian (538 points) and of William Bon Mardion (484 points). Tomorrow the race starts at 11 am.
